When you and your child enter Evergreen you will discover new opportunities for growth and learning. Our pre-kindergarten program at Evergreen is designed to provide opportunities that foster learning, negotiating, critical thinking, language, cooperation, and collaboration through a variety of hands-on experiences. Teachers use the environment and the children’s interests to prepare curriculum suitable for each age group from 2 ˝ - 5 years. Each child builds skills needed in navigating the world around them and carries these skills to kindergarten.
Children have a variety of activities to do and learn from including math, science, reading, drawing, painting, building, climbing, writing, housekeeping and so much more. Children are offered opportunities for free play indoors and outdoors where they learn to serve themselves snack, use the toilet independently, make choices about what materials they want to use and take responsibility with cleaning up. They will learn about consequences both positive and negative and the importance of making constructive choices.
Your child will also have the opportunity to experience circle and group time. Our group times are designed to build skills that will be needed in kindergarten. During group, your child will practice turn-taking, listening, defining and respecting their personal boundaries and those of their class mates. In general, your child will learn what it means to be part of a larger community.
Children leave Evergreen with the ability to succeed in kindergarten because they have practiced the social skills and personal care skills in a way that is empowering and supportive of who they are and what they can accomplish. Our program supports your child’s creativity, unique personality and abilities in a safe, nurturing environment that allows them to explore, discover, be challenged and feel successful.
